I had heard a lot about the Pind Da Dhaba from folks who said this is the place to experience the real Punjab- the makki ki Roti and sarson ka saag, the lohri, basant, baisakhi and teej, the folktales and the Punjabi songs.
As a kid, while traveling interstate, I fondly remember stopping at these roadside dhabas and licking my fingers after a sumptuous meal. Can Pind Da Dhaba manage to bring that rustic experience to the polished urbane city of Dubai?
We will see…..
The Ambience: The Interiors of the restaurant has appealing little elements to grab your attention. Starting with the stairs where the beautiful colorful bangles were installed along with the kite flying thread rolls and the lit brass kettles. Pind Da Dhaba has a dim light concept – so similar to a typical Indian Dhaba. In the corner of the venue is the beautiful Autorickshaw table to dine in, you can get this one only on first come first serve basis. The other side has a beautifully decorative set up- a truck, a hand pump and the “Gola” corner. The whole set up just transported me to the carefree childhood days when I rushed outside my home for the sweet colorful Gola- shaved ice on a stick with red sherbet or different fruit syrups. Simply Awesome!
The restaurant managed to make me feel I am in mini Punjab. It’s in short a “Sophisticated Highway Dhaba”…
Food: It has a good Vegetarian and Non – vegetarian menu without Alcohol. I am a vegetarian and so is my family. We ordered for a full vegetarian meal – Dhaba Khumb Da Tikka, Mushroom Grilled, Paneer Makhini , Amritsari Channa, Kadi pakoda, Dhaba Daal, Sarson Da Saag and Amritsari Kulcha, Tandori Roti , Makki di Roti. I must say all were delicious. I ordered for a Sikanji along with the food (Lime base drink) and I must say it was a great combination and experience.
For desserts Stick Kulfi , Thandi Kheer and Gajaar ka halwa is a must try.
Service: The staff was well-behaved and efficient. They served well. No complaints whatsoever.
