I discovered the most authentic cuisine from the heartland of India in “Oye Punjabi” restaurant at Lamcy Plaza. They have conceptualized the rusty look of a village encompassing the wheat fields, a small town square and the local music in the background that will immediately transport you to a Dhaba (Roadside Restaurants) for some heavily spiced meals.
We started the meal with sprout salad and masala peanut which is served complementary as you arrive at the restaurant. I couldn’t stop munching on it until the end of the meal. It was amazingly “chatpata”. Along with it keep sipping the stirred to perfection Masala Chaas or Mango Lassi, both are equally very good. For soup I ordered for the Tomato Dhaniya ka shorba and my friend opted for Murg Shorba. Both the soups were appetizing and we enjoyed having it.
For Vegetarians I would recommend Bharwah Khumb(Mushroom Starter), Achari Paneer Tikka Amritsari and Murg Malai Tikka for the Non Vegeterian: simply mouth watering.I am sure they have more range of delectable starters but we dint have space for more. Don’t forget to try the most authentic punjabi dish called Sarsoon Ka Saag along with Makai ki Roti and Dhaba Mutton with Lachha paratha/ Keema Kulcha. For dessert it is just not possible to select: Gulab Jamun, Falooda Kulfi , Ras Malai and few more in the list are all worth trying. If you want to try something different try Maki ki Roti along with Gurd (Jaggery). It tastes awesome. I have been eating this since childhood in winters at Rajasthan and made me miss home.
