Beach Holiday at Thailand: Koh Samui Island

Thailand is known for its stunning beaches, rocking nightlife & easy-on- the-pocket-shopping.

And I found the entire above true! I had planned my trip accordingly: Started with Koh Samui Island for its beaches, continued the trip to Phuket for its nightlife and ended the trip with Shopping at Bangkok. I loved Koh Samui & this blog will showcase the best of the Island.

We travelled from Abu Dhabi (UAE) to Bangkok (Thailand) by Etihad Airways, stopped at Bangkok for a few hours before taking the connecting short flight to Koh Samui. To my surprise I landed at the smallest airport ever. It was the cutest little wooden constructed airstrip. It was early morning when we landed and the airport was drenched. The surroundings were lush green and the tiny rain drops made it look alluring and serene. We rented the car from the Airport to head to our hotel and explore the island. Koh Samui is indeed small in size yet an exclusive island destination. Its beautiful beaches and variety of activities gratifies tourists of all kinds.

We chose to stay at Muang Samui Villas & Suites a 5 star property on Choeng Mon Beach, about 3 km away from Samui international airport. It’s a perfect place to be with the family and enjoy a beach holiday. One can spend the whole day relaxing at the lovely pristine beach, enjoy the stunningly designed crystal clear water filled swimming pool and experience the Spa treatments at “Mon Tara Spa” near the Beachfront. You should also try the “Spice Zone Beachfront Restaurant” that serves fresh seafood and traditional Thai cuisine with other International dishes.

We stayed at Terrace Suites that had a contemporary Thai style décor, luxury bathroom with Jacuzzi and hot-cold rained shower. The room had a nice terrace with a pool view: peaceful and quixotic.

–    Temple: Big Buddha Statue: It’s a 12 meter Gold Buddha Statue

–    Night Market in ChoengMon Area around the Hotel with great street food, music and shopping

–   Chaweng Beach Shopping, Massage Parlours and Nightlife

  •  ARK beach club is  recommended for Party lovers (kids are allowed too)
  • Green Mango, the busiest dance floor in Central Chaweng
  •  Bar Solo located in Central Chaweng is a perfect place to start an early evening
  •  Reggae Pub followed by a Boxing experience at Chaweng Boxing Stadium
  • Noori India Indian Restaurant in Chaweng Beach Area
  • Massage Parlors on Chaweng Beach Road

IMG_5076Chaweng Beach Area has the best restaurants, bars, shows and world class night clubs. If you would like to stay closer to the nightlife area you can stay at Muang Samui Spa Resort at Chaweng Beach.

If the weather is good you must try water sports: Scuba diving, Kayaking and Fishing. While walking  on the Chaweng Beach one can book tours from various companies located on the road.

I did not have enough time to explore Lamai beach that also has good night life, resorts and restaurants. If you have enough time you can try Thai Boxing. Some resorts have that available in the fitness area.

Koh Samui is a gorgeous island that has maintained its greenery, natural beauty and the 5 star resorts offering us a variety of activities.

An ideal place for a Beach Holiday and also if you are planning a destination for Wedding!!!
